SLM Solutions—a provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) machines—has reported that the construction of its new headquarters (HQ) in Germany’s Lübeck-Genin is progressing to plan.
The roof coverings are expected to be finished in the coming weeks, after which construction of the interior can begin. The building is scheduled for completion at the beginning of 2018, and the company plans to move in during the first quarter.
The new HQ will provide space for around 500 employees. SLM Solutions has planned for a production capacity of around 500 machines per year, based on a one-shift operation basis.
The building occupies around 17,000 m² of the total 70,000 m² area available, making it possible to construct extension buildings at the site in the future.
Uwe Bögershausen, chief finance officer (CFO) at SLM Solutions, commented: ‘We made sure when planning our new headquarters that the ground plans exactly meet the needs of our production processes. Our aim was to keep connecting routes as short as possible and further improve the possibilities for coordination between departments through the new premises’ design. We believe we can significantly further optimize our manufacturing process in this way and raise our productivity. We will also have more space for our R&D activities at the new site than is currently possible. With our new headquarters, we will be very well positioned for further growth.’
