Sintavia—a USA-based global provider of metal additive manufacturing (AM) services for critical industries—has achieved the new ‘AS9100:2016 Revision (Rev) D Aerospace Quality Management Systems’ standard.
Sintavia passed the AS9100 Revision (Rev) D audit with zero findings and is one of the first aerospace manufacturing companies globally to receive the certification. By meeting the standard’s latest requirements, Sintavia improves its quality management system (QMS).
The wording of AS9100 Revision (Rev) D focuses on institutionalizing and maintaining critical organizational knowledge, for which Sintavia uses software from Granta Design. As well as assessing risk at the contract review and quoting stages, Sintavia also assesses corporate risk, process risk and opportunities within every process of the company.
‘New requirements were added to the standard,’ said Doug Hedges, Sintavia’s president and chief operations officer (COO). ‘Some of these requirements we have always done since the beginning because they are simply good business practices. Now we are one of only a handful of aerospace companies in the world that has the new Revision D certification.’
