HP and Deloitte have formed a 3D printing alliance that they expect to accelerate the manufacturing industry's digital transformation globally. The companies intend to implement HP’s Jet Fusion 3D printing solutions in large-scale manufacturing environments as well as use their digital operations expertise to help companies accelerate product design and production, create more flexible supply chains and optimize the manufacturing lifecycle.
HP's Jet Fusion 3D printing solutions include the Jet Fusion 3D 4200 and 3200 printers, post processing station and open materials platform. The company is also bringing to the alliance its partner ecosystem and reputation for driving digital industrial transformations. Deloitte brings its complementary partner ecosystem, global client reach and considerable experience in operations and supply chain management.
The Jet Fusion 3D printing solutions are already in use at a number of global companies, including BMW, Jabil, Johnson & Johnson and Nike, as well as manufacturing service bureaus throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
HP offers an end-to-end manufacturing ecosystem that encompasses engineering, software and manufacturing companies, including Autodesk, SAP, Siemens and Materialise, as well as members of its open 3D materials platform, such as Arkema, BASF, Evonik, Henkel, Lehmann & Voss and Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical Co.
Deloitte has formed an ecosystem of digital collaborators that include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cloudera, BASF, Evonik, Dassault Systèmes, Google Cloud, SAP and Siemens.
The alliance is considered a natural fit in terms of HP and Deloitte already sharing a number of the same companies in their ecosystems.
Commenting on the announcement, Dion Weisler, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of HP, said: ‘The Fourth Industrial Revolution is upon us. No sector of the global economy is undergoing more radical transformation than the 12 USD trillion manufacturing market. Companies investing in digital reinvention are poised to outpace their peers. Building on our disruptive 3D printing technology, together with Deloitte we are focused on helping customers transform and win in this new era.'
Punit Renjen, global CEO of Deloitte, added: ‘The digitalization of global manufacturing operations and practices will impact companies and consumers around the world, and 3D printing will play an important role in fundamentally changing manufacturing as we know it. This alliance comprises two exceptional brands and brings together HP’s leading 3D printing platform with Deloitte’s digital manufacturing experience and global client reach.’
The alliance is to begin in the USA and later extend to other geographies. HP and Deloitte are to offer solutions that combine HP’s managed print, device-as-a-service (DaaS), commercial mobility and cyber security offerings with Deloitte’s business transformation expertise.
